شرح بيت من الشاعر أبى العتاهية:

إذا ما خلوْتَ، الدّهرَ، يوْماً، فلا تَقُلْ:

إذا ما خلوْتَ، الدّهرَ، يوْماً، فلا تَقُلْ
if you are not free, from age or day then do not say

خَلَوْتَ ولكِنْ قُلْ عَلَيَّ رَقِيبُ
that you are free, but speak under surveillance

ولاَ تحْسَبَنَّ اللهَ يغفِلُ ساعة
and don't think that god overlooked time

وَلا أنَ مَا يخفَى عَلَيْهِ يغيب
or that what is hidden from him is unseen
